STEM Nursery Rhyme Activities in Year 1

6th Oct 2020

As part of Year 1’s topic ‘A Time to Rhyme’ the Year 1 children have thoroughly enjoyed the STEM activities over the past few weeks.  We have been building and testing walls for Humpty Dumpty and devising ways of keeping Humpty on that wall! We have been testing out materials to keep Humpty from cracking, even from higher places and sorting materials: hard and soft.
This week we have decided to make our own musical instruments (shakers) for the ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’ song, the performance not to be missed when all scarecrow shakers are ready!  Today the children were investigating what items and materials made the best sounds, trying out various quantities, testing, adjusting then decorating their scarecrows, enjoy the photos and I’ll add more next week.
