Famine Cottages

Today the children in Mrs Quinn's Year 7 class started making some Irish famine cottages.  They picked suitable materials, cut out a template and constructed them using a glue gun.  They decided art straws were the most suitable material to replicate the thatch.  This art activity ties in with their World Around Us topic at the moment, "The Irish Famine" and our class novel "Under The Hawthorn Tree."
