Big Walk and Wheel Day: Wednesday 18th March 2026 On Wednesday 18th March 2026, we encourage everyone (pupils, families and staff) to travel actively to school i.e. Walk, Cycle or Scoot, or at least park up and travel some of the way actively.  Children are invited to ditch the school uniform and dress as brightly as possible to reinforce the Road Safety message of, ‘Be Bright, Be Seen’.   | St. Mary's 🎨 ART COMPETITION 2026 🎨 Closing date Wednesday 25th March 2026.  Entry £3.00.

Confirmation Preparation for Parents: Disciples of Jesus - Filled With Joy!

The Derry Diocesan Catechetical Centre has put together a programme to support parents, schools and parishes as they prepare children in this very important stage of their faith journey.  

Preparation Programme

Four sessions will take place on 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th May from 10am-12pm on the Catechetical Centre Webcam (catecheticalcentre.org/webcam/).

Each day the sessions will include catechesis on different aspects of the Sacrament of Confirmation, prayer, creative activities and music.

  1. The Sacraments of Initiation- Whom Shall I Send? Called by God to proclaim the Good News, strengthened by the gift of the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation
  2. What is the Spirit of God like?-Jesus, a Spirit filled life; symbols of the Holy Spirit; the Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit; Story of Pentecost.
  3. Celebrating the Confirmation Ceremony- Why do we have a Confirmation Name; Role of the Confirmation Sponsor; Anointing with Oil; Laying on of Hands
  4. Called to be Saints-Building up God’s Church filled with the Holy Spirit; Living the Beatitudes; Discovering God’s Plan for my life.
