Big Summer Read 2026 📖✨

5th Jun 2026

We are delighted to support the Big Summer Read 2026, organised by Libraries NI!

This year’s theme, “The Story Tree,” encourages children to keep reading over the summer holidays while discovering books they love. Regular reading during the break is a great way to maintain and build literacy skills, and this programme offers a fun, free opportunity for families to get involved.

⭐ Read 5 books to receive a bookmark
⭐ Read 10 books to earn a certificate celebrating your achievement

The Big Summer Read runs from 29 June to 31 August 2026, and children can sign up at Omagh Library.

As part of the programme, Omagh Library will be creating a special Story Tree display. Children are invited to write the title of their favourite book on a leaf and add it to the tree, helping it grow throughout the summer.

In addition, Omagh Library will host a variety of free events as part of the Big Summer Read, including LEGO sessions, clay workshops, STEM activities, and even an exciting art lesson with illustrator Clive McFarland—making it a fantastic opportunity for children to get creative as well as enjoy reading.

We encourage all our pupils and families to take part and enjoy a summer full of reading adventures.

For more information, please visit your local library or contact Omagh Library.

Happy reading! 📖✨
