✖️ ➕ Pupil Ambassadors for Maths ➗ ➖
St. Mary's Maths Co-ordinator, Mrs Quinn, has introduced an exciting new pupil involvement programme in St. Mary's focusing on Numeracy development.
The programme brings together eight Year 7 pupils to work alongside younger children from Year 3 and Year 4 to help improve their confidence in maths. The Year 7 pupils act as positive role models and provide encouragement while helping to explain tricky problems.
Each week, the older pupils work alongside the younger students in small groups or pairs. They practise important skills such as number bonds and multiplication tables through games, quizzes, and short activities. This support helps the younger children develop stronger mental maths skills and become more confident learners.
At the same time, the older pupils build their leadership, communication and mentoring skills. Overall, the programme creates a supportive environment where pupils from different year groups learn and succeed together.
